Overview
Following its de-merger from Asciano and acquisition by Brookfield, LINX Cargo Care Group (LINXCCG), a group of five operating businesses with complex EBA interpretations, was required to transition to independent technology platforms within 12 months under a Transition Services Agreement (TSA). This included replacing PeopleSoft with Kronos (UKG) for workforce management and Preceda for payroll.
Challenge
The transition introduced significant changes to systems, processes, and people, creating several challenges:
- Validating the quality of system configuration and testing to ensure payroll accuracy.
- Understanding the accuracy of project outputs and reconciling discrepancies.
- Managing a clear and realistic delivery schedule across five diverse business units.
- Stabilising delivery and mitigating risks related to payroll compliance and operational continuity.
Solution
Elwyn was engaged to re-plan and syndicate a transparent delivery roadmap aligned with business expectations. The team validated data and testing outputs to ensure configuration quality and provided leadership across design, delivery, and cutover phases.
Post-implementation, Elwyn led a comprehensive Payroll Reconciliation Program, which included:
- Reconciling over 50,000 pay slips for 900 employees.
- Engaging stakeholders, including workforce representatives, unions (MUA), and senior management.
- Overseeing payroll operations across 15 Australian port locations and 9 EBAs.
- Managing communications and resolving discrepancies.
- Securing joint endorsement of reconciliation outcomes from all parties.
Elwyn’s strategic guidance and project leadership ensured the program stayed on track and delivered value.
Outcome
Elwyn delivered clarity, assurance, and governance across this high-risk transition. The technology and payroll transformation achieved compliance and operational stability, with the reconciliation program restoring confidence across the business and unions. The shared endorsement of results improved readiness for future-state operations and ensured a smooth transition to the new platforms.
