Overview
InvoCare undertook a transformative ERP program to modernise and unify its business systems across Australia and New Zealand. The initiative involved implementing a bespoke ERP solution, BeyondPro, and migrating approximately five million records with $750M in funds under management. The program aimed to enhance customer experience, improve financial reporting, and drive operational efficiency.
Challenge
The program required a robust data migration framework to transition in-scope data objects from diverse legacy systems into the new platform. Key challenges included:
- Understanding the nuances of disparate legacy data structures and aligning them with the new schema in a way that made sense within a business context.
- Ensuring data accuracy and quality through an iterative migration strategy.
- Maintaining auditability, transparency, and repeatability throughout the process.
Specialised tools were needed to streamline efforts and reduce the duration of each migration phase. Logical mapping of data objects had to be clearly articulated in business terms to enable stakeholder validation. Ultimately, the migration had to be executed successfully during cutover, demonstrating a robust and well-governed process.

Elwyn collaborated with Accenture and OpusX to deliver both the data migration strategy and its execution. The approach was iterative, refining data accuracy and quality with each migration cycle. Key activities included:

Elwyn successfully migrated 5 million records, completing multiple rounds of reconciliation to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and completeness. The reconciliations provided InvoCare with full traceability and confidence in the final dataset. The program’s success was underpinned by a robust migration process that reduced risks, enhanced data quality, and delivered assurance to the business.
