Overview
Mirvac embarked on its ambitious ‘NEXT’ Systems Program to establish a unified and standardised approach to development costing, document collaboration, and reporting.
The initiative aimed to replace aging legacy systems and fragmented operations with a centralised ERP platform integrated with construction planning and reporting tools like Yardi and RIB. This transformation was critical to modernising Mirvac’s operations and enabling seamless collaboration across teams.
Challenge
Despite a clear vision, Mirvac faced significant challenges during the program’s delivery. The complexity of the systems, concerns about solution suitability, and high turnover within the internal project team created delays and disruptions.
These issues led to gaps in subject matter expertise and a loss of critical project knowledge, posing risks to data migration quality and overall program continuity. Mirvac needed a partner to stabilise the program and ensure its success.
Solution
Elwyn Consulting was engaged to provide assurance, oversight, and leadership to address these challenges. Initially tasked with reviewing the Yardi solution architecture and system fit, Elwyn’s role expanded to leading the critical development and construction data migration workstream.
Leveraging deep industry expertise and ERP implementation experience, Elwyn:
- Re-baselined the project plan to align with realistic timelines and deliverables.
- Stabilised delivery processes to ensure consistent progress.
- Guided Yardi and RIB teams through iterative data migration and validation cycles.
- Augmented the team with a seasoned data migration analyst specialising in validation and audit disciplines to mitigate capacity risks.
Elwyn’s proactive approach ensured that risks were identified and addressed early, enabling the program to regain momentum.
Outcome
Under Elwyn’s leadership, the program achieved a successful data migration dress rehearsal, cutover, and go-live for the development and construction phase. Post-go-live hypercare ensured operational stability during the transition to business-as-usual (BAU) operations.
The effectiveness of Elwyn’s involvement was recognised by Mirvac, leading to their re-engagement for Phase 3 of the program, focusing on Investment Management data migration. This re-engagement was a testament to the quality of Elwyn’s delivery and the trust they built with Mirvac.
